*Key Concept: The Relationship Between ASSIST and PLUS

Your primary ALL In Learning tool is PLUS, which you access using a web browser on your computer or tablet. ASSIST is the freely available iOS app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. Once you’ve entered your PLUS user name and password in ASSIST, your iOS device becomes a special ALL In Learning platform, with quick, simple, powerful features that make the most of your device’s mobility, convenience, and charming interface and hardware.

How to Install ASSIST on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch

To install ASSIST on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch, search for “ASSIST” in the App Store, and install the ALL In Learning ASSIST app.

How to Connect ASSIST to PLUS

  1. On your iOS device, open ASSIST by tapping on it.
  2. Tap “Settings.”
  3. Tap the “Email Address” field and enter your PLUS username.
  4. Tap in the “Password” field and enter your PLUS password.
  5. Tap “Done.”

How to Download Your Class Roster into ASSIST

  1. Tap “Classes.”
  2. Tap “Get More Classes.”
  3. Tap the class you would like to select, placing a checkmark next to it.
  4. Tap “Download.”
  5. Tap “OK.”
  6. Tap the “ASSIST” button to return to the main menu.

 

How to Download a Blueprint into ASSIST

Blueprints you create or copy in PLUS can be downloaded into ASSIST.

  1. In ASSIST, tap “Blueprints” at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap “Get More Blueprints.”
  3. Tap the blueprints you want to select, placing check marks next to them.
  4. Tap “Download.” After a moment you should get a confirmation of “Download complete.”
    Tap “OK.”
  5. Tap “Assist” to return to your blueprints screen.

How to Scan an Answer Key in ASSIST

In ASSIST you can scan create a blueprint and scan a bubble sheet answer key for convenience.

  1. Print out and fill in a blank bubblesheet from this link
    https://www.allinlearning.com/assist-app/bubble-sheet-for-scan-it/
      (Note: It is recommended that you only use this bubble sheet for your answer key, and follow the steps in the above section called “Generating Bubble Sheets” for smart, QR-coded student bubble sheets.)
  2. In ASSIST on your mobile device, tap “Blueprints.”
  3. Tap “Create a New Blueprint.”
  4. Tap “Summative Assessment” and then tap “Done.”
  5. Tap “Summative Assessment.”
  6. Tap the “Name” field to enter a name, and clicked “Done” when finished.
  7. Tap the camera icon.
  8. Position your device over the bubble sheet so that the rectangle is just inside the edges of the camera view, and tap the camera icon.
  9. Scroll through the answer key on screen to confirm it’s correct.
  10. Tap “Blueprints” and “ASSIST” to go back.

How to Grade a MC Test with Scan It in ASSIST

These instructions apply to using automatically-recognized “smart” QR-coded bubble sheets printed from the Students section under Classes tab in your PLUS account. See the instruction above in the section titled “How to Print ALL In Learning Bubble Sheets for Grading with Scan It.”

  1. In ASSIST on your mobile device, tap “Blueprints.”
  2. Tap “Activate a Blueprint.”
  3. Tap the blueprint you want to activate.
  4. Tap the class you are grading.
  5. Tap the camera icon to the left of the first student.
  6. Position your device over the bubble sheet so that the rectangle is just inside the camera frame, and tap the camera icon to snap a picture. Note their score is automatically displayed at the top of the screen.
  7. If the information displayed at the top is in red, there was a problem grading one or more questions; maybe more than one bubble was filled in or the question was skipped. Tap the hand icon at the bottom left to take a closer look, make determinations about what the student intended, and tap in their intended answer manually or leave the question blank. A dark “X” to the right of a question means it is being counted as incorrect. Tap “Done” to return to scanning.
  8. Repeat step 6 to scan the next bubble sheet. ASSIST will automatically recognize the student because of the QR code on the bubble sheet.
  9. Tap the arrow on the bottom right to grade the next student.
  10. Tap “Done” when finished grading, and you will see how the class performed by category and by question.
  11. Tap “Done” to return to Blueprints screen.

How to Grade a Rubric Test in ASSIST

For essay rubric grading, you will use the Tap It feature.

  1. In ASSIST on your mobile device, tap “Blueprints.”
  2. Tap “Activate a Blueprint.”
  3. Tap the blueprint you want to activate.
  4. Tap the class you are grading.
  5. Tap the hand icon to the right of the first student.
  6. Tap and drag the slider for each category to grade by rubric. Note their score on the lower right is automatically calculated.
  7. Tap the arrow on the bottom right to grade the next student.
  8. Tap “Done” when finished grading, and you will see how the class performed by category and by question.
  9. Tap “Done” to return to Blueprints screen.

How to Grade a Test with Tap It in ASSIST

For short answer tests, you will use the Tap It feature..

  1. In ASSIST on your mobile device, tap “Blueprints.”
  2. Tap “Activate a Blueprint.”
  3. Tap the blueprint you want to activate.
  4. Tap the class you are grading.
  5. Tap the hand icon to the right of the first student.
  6. Tap the check marks on the right of the wrongly-answered questions. Note the score is automatically calculated on the bottom right for your reference.
  7. Tap the arrow on the bottom right to grade the next student.
  8. Tap “Done” when finished grading, and you will see a performance summary.
  9. Tap “Done” to return to Blueprints screen.

How to Upload A Footprint from ASSIST

Once you’ve finished grading a Blueprint, the results are saved as a Footprint. Uploading it will allow you to view and share the reports back in your PLUS account.

  1. Tap “Footprints” button at the bottom of ASSIST.
  2. Tap “Upload Footprints”.
  3. Tap the footprint you wish to upload.
  4. Tap “Upload” at the bottom of the screen.
  5. You should receive a message confirming success.
